Hot water is being boiled and filling up my storage tank, how can I stop it?
Question by Bisty: Hot water is being boiled and filling up my storage tank, how can I stop it?
I have switched off my hot water control (ie, I don’t need any hot water). However, the storage tank is constantly filling up with water, even when I switched the boiler off. This never happened in the past. Please help me stop it, thanks.

there is suppose to be a floater in the the tank (like a ball) check if it is stuck if yes it may have accumulated some dirt with the valve so the best thing will be a replacement

you will need to get a plumber to check it out, he should still guarantee the installation 2 months into it

Question by budgie: hi can anyone solve a problem with hot water storage tank ?
I have hot water storage tank which is fully lagged but when I have a full tank of hot water at midnight it is only lukewarm at 8.00 am the following morning. surely a fully lagged tank should hold longer than this. Anyone got any ideas?

hmmm, I would search for a “leak” of the hot water via your plumbing system . . . dripping faucet, running toilet, etc.
My 40 gal gas tank set at 130F is still about 122F+ 8-10 hrs later – athough the small pilot light adds a little constant heat. I do have both inlet and outlet pipe sections on top insulated too.

The Kwon family has a rainwater catchment system they use to water their garden. The storage tank is 80 inches deep. After 3 hours of rain, the depth of water in the tank is 37 inches. After 5 hours, the depth is 60 inches. If the rain continues to fall at the same rate, how many hours will it take to fill the tank? Round your answer to the nearest tenth.

Is there a secondary storage tank for an electric water heating system?
Question by wfd_truck3: Is there a secondary storage tank for an electric water heating system?
I have a newer electric water heater that I installed 2 years ago. While it works well, it can not keep up with my families needs. I am trying to find a secondary storage tank to go along with the tank on the heater. Is this practical, or would it be better to switch to an oil fired heater, both mechanically and economically?

Capacity!!! Depending on your families needs, a 30 gallon water heater may have been suitable before, but as kids grow and mature their needs change and may be using more hot water as a family. Or the recovery rate of the new water heater is lower than the previous.
