Q&A: what do you think of those vacuum storage space bags?

Question by Diouji: what do you think of those vacuum storage space bags?
We are thinking about getting those storage space vacuum bags that you see on tv, where you put all your clothes in a bag and it shrinks up smaller. We are trying to move and need to pack up as much into a car as possible. Does anybody have these? Is a worthwhile investment?

Q&A: Any tips on using the “Space Bag” vacuum storage bags for storing clothes?

Question by Hooray for Everything: Any tips on using the “Space Bag” vacuum storage bags for storing clothes?
I bought some of those plastic “Space Bag” storage bags that you vacuum the air out of after you fill them up, for storing some clothes.

Are there any tips you have for using them? Like is there any point to ironing clothes before you put them in? Does using the vacuum negatively impact the clothes in any way?

Any tips will be appreciated!

The vacuum wont hurt the clothes at all- one trick to using space bags is to open them up about every three months to let the clothes expand, then re-vacuum the air out of them- but they are gonna wrinkle in the bag so I wouldn’t bother to iron them first! Good Luck!

You could use those bags that you vacuum the air out of so that the clothes inside is more compact. They sell them at Wallmart, K-Mart, Bed Bath and Beyond, and Linens and Things.

About garlic storage: is it advisable to store garlic in a vacuum container or have them vacuum-packed?

Question by ellemuor: About garlic storage: is it advisable to store garlic in a vacuum container or have them vacuum-packed?
From what I’ve read so far, vacuum-packing prolongs the shelf-life of food. Is this type of storage applicable to garlic? Why?
