While there are any handyman services available all over the place, finding a reliable firm to handle all you repair and maintenance needs might be a little more difficult. This is owing to the fact that many people get ripped off from hiring incompetent handyman firms that do shoddy jobs and rip people off.

In the current economy, more people are choosing to hold onto their homes as opposed to trying to sell them. While doing so, they are taking advantage of the opportunity to do some home repair and improvement, no doubt hoping that it will benefit them in the future when the home market turns back around.

Our home is our refuge, our special place to relax and let down our guard. While this is how it should be, there are a few instances where we still have to be aware that others may have a bad intent and are looking for ways to rip us off.

Question by blue dragon: How would I tear out added closets in a room?
I have a 100 yr. old home, which closets were added in every room.Probably 50 yrs. later. I would like to remove the closets in one of the upstairs bedrooms. It consists of two independent closets on the bottom, but full cabinets across the top of them. Can they just be torn out and the walls/ceiling be refinished?

Before you rip them out make sure they are not a load bearing wall or your ceiling and or roof might cave in.Since the house is 100 years old it will probably be lathe and plaster walls there a pain in the a** to remove so good luck
