Question by purplepunch: How can I use my DATA D drive for extra storage?
Ive heard you can use this drive as extra storage space instead of “Recovery files” how can I do this? And what type of files can be moved? Programmes, pictures etc. I have 150gb free on this drive and its a shame to let it go to waste when my C drive is taking a battering …

You can move the Documents folder (My Documents in XP) to another location, like your D: drive. Then all your files will automatically be saved on the D: drive.

The method to do this is a bit different for different versions of Windows. Do a web search for “move Document folder” to find instructions.

Go through you DVR setup menu and look for something like: “External Mulitmedia”. If this option is present then you likely have a USB port and you can connect an external USB hard drive.

I installed a under-dresser under my bed. It’s simply a dresser that was once made for waterbeds; Check classifieds, craigslist, thrift stores

Is there any way to use my 500 GB external hard drive as extra storage on my computer? It has very little memory left (20 GB) and that was after the OS installation. Mind, it’s about 6 years old. I just put in 2 GB of RAM but have no idea how to install storage-wise memory.

ur question is not clear. external hard drives are used by usb plug. don’t u have a usb plug connected to that hard disk?
