Question by linda: Help how to organize walk in closets?
I have big closets I want them to be organized. For my bedroom and my children’s bedroom. They are sharing a room a 4 year old girl and a one year old boy. She has lots of clothes. I want everything to be organized but I do not know how to go with it and from where to buy the things needed?

Please help!

You might want to try color coordinating their things. Keeping toys in bins that they can reach is a step toward getting them to keep them neat. There are even wooden bin holders… like for classrooms that you can buy. You could even buy matching (color-wise) hangers for their clothes. I liked putting my children’s dressers inside their closets. If there is room to do so, it frees up a lot of floor space in the bedroom. While they are little, having a double (one above the other) set of hanging rods is very helpful. There are many closet “systems” out there… like California Closets. You might look at their web sites and get some ideas.

Everything I’ve heard about them, they do an awesome job but its very expensive.

Question by Karin: Has anyone ever gotten their closet redone by Closets By Design?
I’m looking into getting my closet organized by Closets By Design (similar to California Closets, etc.), but don’t know what to expect in the price department. For something relatively minor (walk-in closet), what can I expect to pay? I want to be prepared so that when the consultant comes out to my house in a couple days I won’t be completely shocked. Thanks!

I am thinking of something like the Shulte Freedomrail System, where you can put in shelves, long/short hanging, shoe organizer, drawers/cabinets, in the size, style, materials, and configuration you want in your bedroom closet, storage/pantry, laundry room. I’ve seen the Elfa system at Howard’s Storage, but the price of that is crazy high because it ships from Australia, and the salespeople at Howard’s are clueless about how to design a space and don’t even seem to know what components they sell and how much they cost. SACO has some components, but not enough to do much more than shelves. There used to be a place (near King Khalid Street, I think) that had California Closets, but it seems that they either closed or moved. Any ideas? Thanks!
Thanks, Mintee. I have the IKEA catalogue, but it seems like you have to be an engineer to design and order their products (brackets, legs, handles, screws…). I’ll check out the new place out by Extra (we call that road “the Extra Highway”–don’t know what it’s really called). Did you ever see a place in Khobar, somewhere near Swaiket and King Khalid Street, that sells customs closets? I can picture it on the east side of the road, but can’t remember which road!!! Thanks again.
