Can I sue my landlord for not disclosing the known possibility of flooding in the garage/storage area?
Question by cheeshygirl: Can I sue my landlord for not disclosing the known possibility of flooding in the garage/storage area?
Do landlords have to disclose these kinds of things? I lost a lot of property that I stored in my garage and connecting storage area due to a flash flood. My neighbors have informed me that this has happened many times but my landlord never told me of this possibility. He claims this has only happened once, 7 years ago, and it was because the city’s storm drains were clogged. He has offered no compensation, only help removing ruined property. I have renter’s insurance but it doesn’t cover floods.

Answer by 65% water
If you can prove – via affidavits from others, etc. – that your landlord knew there was a danger of flooding, and if you can show a financial loss, then you have a good chance of winning a lawsuit. If he knew about the conditions in the storage area but still presented that area as suitable for storage, then he was definitely in the wrong.

Q&A: Any ideas on what to use for the old wine storage area in kitchen cabinet?
Question by Darren T: Any ideas on what to use for the old wine storage area in kitchen cabinet?
We had a storage area for five wine bottles built into our kitchen cupboards some time ago.
We now have a wine cooler and was wondering if anyone had any ideas on what to use for the old wine area.
It is just one bottle width and five bottles high. I believe the shelves can be removed.
Thanks.

We are looking to purchase storage units (unclaimed/unpaid) at auctions in the Conroe/Houston area and try to turn a profit by selling the items. Is there a good website to use in locating these? First time experience so any help getting started is MUCH appreciated!

In my area, the storage unit places are required to run an advertisement in the newspaper that they unit is going to be put up for auction.
I’ve been to a few, mostly clothes and other people’s junk.

How can I eliminate musty smell from storage area?
Question by Joe F: How can I eliminate musty smell from storage area?
A storage area behind my bedroom wall has a persistent musty smell. It is not damp at all, and the climate here is not particularly humid. There is evidence though that this area once suffered some minor water damage from a roof leak. I have cleaned it and sprayed it with all sorts of stuff but the smell persists and I suspect it comes from behind the storage area, under the roof and above the adjacent room’s ceiling. Suggestions?

Could you install a vent in the room and you say that it may be in the ceiling then have you some sort of insulation in your attic that may be damp from the earlier water damage and could be the source of the smell it might be worth having a look, and if needs be replacing the damp insulation with something new,ok.
