The Iranian regime continues to crack down against protesters. Basij militia have shot protesters dead in the street. Hundreds are arrested every day. Rumors of torture persist. Grenada’s 35th Independence Celebrations 2009 – Grenville

Ricardo Keens Douglas is a gem in this tri-island state. This man organized an event that brought Grenadians together in a very special way in a small and cosey town. With the participation of the best of Grenada’s cultural individuals and groups a pre-independence show of amazing success was generated. The multitude of people present and the atmosphere present reminded me of the mood of crowds when they would listen to Maurice Bishop speak. The show was truly a huge success and I give a huge thumbs up to Ricardo Keens-Douglas – great job. I also applaud all the participants who truly gave their best for Grenada’s 35th independence celebration. Personally, I have never seen Grenville that alive in years. I saw people listening to a live band on the road side, I saw smiling, happy faces, I smelled fish and great food cooking in the streets as Gouyave Fish Friday came to Grenville (marvelous idea). I don’t see why Grenville meat market vendors can’t have one every week also – what’s stopping them? They can make it slightly different and can involve the market vendors who can make local dishes. Money can be made and all can be happy. Just think about it. The crowd in Grenville was very peaceful and jubiliant. I have never seen Grenadians in such a great mood since the recent elections. I hope we can use that positive energy to get us through the rest of the year. As I walked through Grenville last night I once again thought about how the people of St. Andrew’s have recently

Save A Life (Live Footage from the Shaggy and Friends Concert 2009) – Shaggy & Friends

On January 3, 2009, the Shaggy and Friends concert was staged, with Shaggy as host, promoter, show producer and headliner, along with performances from a slew of local and international artistes who donated their talent for the success of the concert and to ultimately benefit the childrens hospital. An unprecedented event where cross sponsorship in media, beverages etc (eg. The Gleaner and the Observer, RJR Group and CVM TV etc) all came together as a force to help the cause. It was a magnificent team effort all around that managed to raise approximately US$270000 which will help supply only a few of the necessary machines that the hospital so desperately requires. However, with only eight (8) weeks of planning for a show that usually would have taken months to organize, its amazing he and his team pulled it off. The Shaggy & Friends Benefit Concert was the first fundraiser of his recently established Shaggy Make a Difference Foundation. The event is one which he intends to continue as an annual charity event. Following the show, the foundation took on the task of sourcing the equipment for the Hospital. Working alongside the CEO, SMO and medical staff at Bustamante, we managed to narrow the list down to pieces which we could afford and would be immediately beneficial to the Hospitals functions. Finding a reputable supplier in the United States responsible for furnishing such hospitals as Jackson Memorial, we worked very closely with them and the Hospital in hopes of
