First Moon Images No Longer Lost in Space

Mankind’s first up-close photos of the lunar landscape have been rescued from four decades of dusty storage. As ap’s Haven Daley reports, they’ve been restored to such a high quality that they rival anything taken by modern cameras. (April 20)

I was 10 when they landed on the moon – I’m 50 now. It’s so sad (in my opinion) that after the Apollo program they just stopped moon research and strarted the stupid shuttle program.
If only they had continued at the same pace, we’d be on Mars by now.

That a government agency, in this case NASA, failed to recover and protect this priceless data, but instead a group of concerned private citizens had to take on the task, should serve as a warning to those who would turn over ever more control of our lives to that same government.

I think this video is faked. That doesn’t look like a real McDonald’s to me…

the collect way to handle those tapes was to have white cotton gloves yes Gov has never collectly store away important data for future use any cheap location to file away and forgotten about

It’s hard to believe that these historic videos would end up lost somehwhere. Two thumbs-up for the people preserving the footage.

I just cannot believe that these images have been treated so poorly in the past. After all the missions this is all we have left for future generations to see.

Now this is cool. My grandfather was one of the first people to see pictures of the back side of the moon. I hope one day we go on another adventure like the Gemini and Apollo missions did.
